Spotlight - Mark Faulkner

Featured in the second drop of our Summer ’21 collection are illustrations by Scottish artist Mark Faulkner. Currently studying at Glasgow School of Art, Mark originates from the town of Fort William in the Western Highlands, and it was close to home that inspired these illustrations. “Both t-shirts are inspired by my fascination and connection to the Caledonian Forest at home in the Highlands”, he tells us. “In the summer, it feels like plants grow from every corner, and nature engulfs the human-built world. These particular drawings were made after a really long walk in heavy rain with some friends along the peat track in Glen Nevis towards the end of last year. I used to hate the rain growing up but now have a newfound appreciation for it, and its healing properties. I think some of the best summer hikes are ones spent in showers!”

Below are photos of Mark on location, alongside his sketches which inspired both pieces of artwork.
